COLAS RAVEY

Colas Ravey, at the youthful age of 22 (2001), hails from the picturesque town of Valeyres-sous-Ursins in Switzerland and currently calls Lausanne his home. His educational journey began with a formative year at CEPV (Centre d’Enseignement Professionnel de Vevey) in 2017-2018, where he first discovered his passion for photography. This initial spark led him to pursue a four-year apprenticeship as a photographer, still at CEPV, from 2018 to 2022. Now, Colas has embarked on his bachelor’s degree in photography at Écal (École cantonale d’art de Lausanne) since September 2023, with plans to complete his studies by July 2026.

In his creative endeavors, Colas draws inspiration from a diverse array of sources, some of which directly influence his work while others provide a more subtle backdrop. Among his influences are the evocative novels of Philippe Besson, the surrealism movement, and the neue sachlichkeit. He also finds inspiration in the works of photographers and artists such as Qiu Yang, Christopher Barraja, Matthieu Croizier, William Lakin, Quentin Fromont, Marton Perlaki, and Peter Hauser.

Describing his artistic style as « naïve, colorful, and bricolage, » Colas imbues his work with a sense of innocence and spontaneity, employing vibrant hues and playful compositions. His photographs exude a sense of whimsy and charm, inviting viewers into a world where imagination knows no bounds. Through his lens, everyday scenes are transformed into vibrant tapestries of color and emotion, reflecting Colas’s unique perspective on the world around him.
