VLADIMIR BALASANYAN
Coming from the cultural richness of Saint-Petersburg to the artistic realm of Paris, Vladimir Balasanyan (1995), stands at the confluence of two worlds. His artistic narrative, woven through academia and professional pursuits, reflects a commitment to unraveling the intricate relationship between art and architecture.
A graduate of the Ilya Repin State Institute of Arts in Saint-Petersburg, Vladimir’s architectural odyssey continued at the École nationale supérieure d’architecture Paris-Malaquais, where he earned a Master’s in Architecture. His intellectual and artistic pursuits culminated at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris from 2018 to 2023.
Currently, Vladimir navigates a dual existence. As a project leader in an architectural agency, he sustains his commitment to the atelier, seeking a profound understanding of the synergy between artistic exploration and architectural practice.
His artistic expression is an immersive exploration of the intricate dance between architecture and art. The focal point of this exploration is architectural drawing—a realm that resides on the cusp of art and architecture. Through his drawings, Vladimir scrutinizes form, proportions, and scale, inviting viewers to contemplate the spatial dimensions of his creations.
Delving deeply into the intersection of art and architecture, Vladimir is driven by a curiosity about how artistic practices influence the built environment. This influence extends beyond physical transformation, delving into the visual and emotional impact architecture generates. Employing deliberate techniques, such as watercolor and ink on paper, he consciously preserves traditional methods of architectural drawing. Yet, this preservation is not mere replication; it is a conscious reinterpretation of these techniques in the context of modernity. His aim is to breathe new life into classical mediums, adapting them to contemporary challenges and opportunities.
Vladimir Balasanyan’s work is a testament to the enduring dialogue between tradition and modernity. Through his dual roles in the professional realm and the atelier, he embodies a harmonious fusion of artistic exploration and architectural innovation. As he navigates the evolving landscape of his creative pursuits, Vladimir continues to be a bridge-builder between the realms of art and architecture, ensuring that each stroke of his pen speaks to the timeless language of both disciplines.
